Khmer Republican Party (KRP)

II. Our Leader’s Biography

Lon Rith is the son of Lon Nol, the former president of Khmer Republic, and mother Lon Sovanna, who left Cambodia to study in France during the late 1960s while Cambodia was facing a serious economic crisis. After the nation had fallen into the flame of war, Lon Rith was sent to study in the US in Maryland State where he read economics at Fulton University.

During his time in the US Lon Rith started a successful small business and in 2003 established the Khmer Activity League Association, which helps local and overseas Khmer citizens. He is married to Ms. Su Sotheary and they have four daughters.

II. Party Objectives

“You are all Khmer children. Though you live anywhere, you have to help the nation according to your capabilities,” my father Lon Nol said.

Following the Paris agreement in October 23, 1991, I have closely observed the evolution of our national situation and noticed that many [political] parties that competed in the 1993 general elections organized by UNTAC claimed to be democratic. However, I have seen that the people are still suffering from injustice, poor levels of security and poverty resulting from corruption. There are many problems such as border issues; immigration issues; shortage of employment opportunities for youth who have left high school and university graduates; the low salaries of civil servants, police, soldiers and workers who cannot afford daily expenses. These factors have stemmed from disagreement in national viewpoints to finding solutions.

After considering the above issues, I decided to establish the Khmer Republic Party (KRP) in March 11, 2006, to bring about real democracy in accordance with the standards of developed countries in the world.

III. Political Principles (Policy)

IV. Political Line

  1. The KRP is not a opposition party
  2. The KRP implements real democracy
  3. The KRP is against all forms of terrorism
  4. The KRP respects human rights in accordance with the general declaration of the UN
  5. The KRP cooperates with all kinds of sectors for national and international causes.

V. Political Platform

The KRP’s main political platform is to address the following issues:

  1. Well-being issues
  2. Issues on land control
  3. Salary issues for both public and private officers
  4. National education issues
  5. Corruption issues
  6. Economic issues (inflation)
  7. Immigration issues
  8. Employment opportunity issues
  9. Women and children issues
  10. Social justice issues
  11. Security and safety issues
  12. Drug issues.

To successfully address these problems, which are linked to influence from foreign ideologies, I believe there are Khmer citizens who are willing to stand up and find solutions, especially the youth who are increasing their potential to develop the nation by carefully electing leader from democratic countries to lead our nation to increasing democracy and progress as other developed nations in the world.

Finally, I would like to appeal to all Khmer citizens to attend the upcoming July 27 national elections to determine our national destiny.
