120,000 tons of rice to be exported to Guinea

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said at the inauguration of a bridge in Kampong Speu province on Wednesday, June 18 that Guinean Prime Minister Ahmed Tidane Sourae has requested to buy 120,000 tons of rice from Cambodia, media reported.

Speaking at the ceremony, the premier said that Cambodia will send agricultural expert to Guinea to assist in the development of new rice-growing techniques, and adding that selling rice to Guinea in a bid to ease the food crisis in the West African nation, media reported.

“We will send experts, even though we have to pay, because this is our international responsibility,” said Hun Sen, quoted by the Mekong Times.

In April, Cambodia sold 6,000 tons of low grade broken rice to Senegal.
