New Japanese bank operated in Cambodia

Phnom Penh: the first Japanese-owned bank, Maruhan Japan Bank Plc, opened on Thursday, May 22 at its Headquarters, operated by Maruhan Cambodia Corporation, which is a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Maruhan Corporation founded in 1957.

The bank’s Head-office is located at No.83, Norodom Boulevard in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

According to its website, Maruhan Corporation has $95 million in capital and operates 229 pachinko parlors in Japan and several bowling alleys.

The operation of bank in Cambodia is to lend money to local enterprises that want to list shares on Cambodia Stock exchange, which will be opening in 2009.

That is good to hear that the bank industry is growing rapidly showing that we are integrated in the globalization’s world. Connecting to the world is good once we know how to control well internally in the country. I wish for more development to come in this country.

More and more foreign investors are coming into Cambodia it is because of the stability, peace and social security. That is what seen that Cambodia is going forward into the world.
