“The next mandate government has no money to buy cars for ministers, secretary of state and under secretary of state.” this is a message claimed in advance by Prime Minister Hun Sen during the reforming public financial summit held in CDC (Cambodia Development Councils) on Wednesday 28th May 2008.
He explained that the next government need to save money to build the infrastructures for the people. “ our little budget need to use for the main goals meaning that use money makes money. Don’t waste the money, but use it for building schools, hospitals, roads, and channels. It is a way to make money for the people” he added.
P.M Hun Sen reminded that the first mandate ministers, secretaries of state and under secretaries of state had received cars already. At that time, the MPs also had the permission to import two car without any tax. For this reason, the state lost a lot of income on taxation. That’s why the government stop doing so in 2nd December 1998.
Minister Khet Chun said he supported this decision 100% and would take an action on this as well.
