Funcipec member removed from government official

Phnom Penh: One of Funcipec party member defected to Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) was removed from the government position on Thursday.

Ngor Pin, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Water Resources, defected to the NRP and was stripped of position by the government, official said.

No one would be replaced the vacant-position yet ahead of the July’s national election because the replacement would have to be approved by the National Assembly but the Assembly already closed its door prior to the election.

Ngor Pin was quoted by the Cambodia Daily as saying that he had joined the NRP, but claimed that he had resigned from his ministry position Tuesday before the government had a chance to fire him.

Before the national election coming, more opposition party’s members, including lawmakers and grassroots’ supporters, defected to the ruling party. The CPP still welcomed the new members from all parties to join its party and promises to give government positions.
